Tippy I Grade
Tippy I Grade (Laurent Alfred) Tippy I Grade is a Haitian-born, Virgin Islands-based record producer, musician, and live dub mixer. A former Olympic swimmer, he is a central figure in the modern roots reggae movement, co-founding the acclaimed Zion I Kings production team and operating I Grade Records, a label that has released over 30 albums for leading artists. His work is celebrated for its deep, heavy-weight rhythms and its role in defining the "St. Croix sound," which blends classic roots reggae with a modern, meditative feel.
Known for bringing his studio to the stage, Tippy I Grade has captivated audiences worldwide with his "I Grade Dub" sound system, where he performs extemporaneous, live dub mixes of songs from his extensive catalog.
As a member of the Zion I Kings collective, he also recently produced the single "Round & Round" for the acclaimed singer Mortimer. He recently completed a successful tour of Europe with Protoje as part of the "In Search of Zion" tour and is set to return to the road with Protoje for a South American tour in November 2025 with stops in Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires, and Brazil. He also expanded his reach with a special performance in Nairobi, Kenya, in November 2025. With new singles like "Hard Dub" and "RED SKY DUB" released in 2025, Tippy I Grade continues to be a crucial voice in the global dub and reggae scenes. 🌍
